PhD position at Paris-Saclay: real or simulated motorcycle driving
Analysis of the motorcyclist's visual strategies in real or simulated motorcycle driving
Topic and context
The fellowship is funded by the French National Research Agency within the framework of the eMC2 project (Electric motorcycles and road safety). The PhD student will investigate to what extent the specificities of electric engines (in terms of vehicle dynamics and sensory feedback) influence the motorcyclist’s behavior and visual strategies. This will be studied first in a dynamic motorcycle simulator and then on a test track with a fully instrumented motorcycle including an onboard eye-tracker.
The PhD student will be co-supervised by Stéphane Espié, Abderrahmane Boubezoul at SATIE (MOOS group, https://satie.ens-paris-saclay.fr/fr/methodes-et-outils-pour-les-signaux-et-systemes) and Franck Mars at LS2N (PACCE group, https://www.ls2n.fr/equipe/pacce/). The candidate will be hired by the Gustave Eiffel University and will be based on the Paris-Saclay campus.
Recruitment may take place on January 1, 2023 or later if necessary.
Main responsibilities
The recruited person is expected to take an active part in the definition of the experimental protocols, in the collection, processing and analysis of data, and in the writing of articles in high-level international journals.
Your profile
· Master’s degree in cognitive science, psychology, human factors, human-computer interaction or related disciplines,
· Experience in conducting human experiments, data analysis and modeling (R, Matlab…), eye-tracking techniques and programing are not required but would be considered favorably
· Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
