R&D Engineer for Point Set Processing
GeometryFactory develops and commercializes geometric software components which are in CGAL - the Computational Geometry Algorithms Library. We offer algorithms for mesh generation, for polygon mesh processing, as well as for point set processing in the form of a C++ library. We are looking for a committed R&D engineer responsible for our components related to point set processing.
Your mission will be to push forward these packages, that is to maintain and improve the existing code base, and to identify and develop algorithms, both for customer's existing (or potential) needs, and for internal needs.
You will interact with the scientific community as we often collaborate directly with researchers on new ideas, start from publications, or use existing research prototypes. Your role is to produce industry-strong code that is robust, well designed, extensively tested, and well documented. You will also interact with customers, mainly while we accompany an evaluation of our technology, where we help to identify technical solutions. You take the lead for this part of the library, but you also work in strong interaction with the other R&D engineers.
What we expect from you
- A PhD in computer science, or 3+ years of professional experience
- Experience as a developer of scientific software
- Excellent and practical knowledge of point set processing algorithms
- Excellent knowledge of the scientific literature in point set processing
- Good C++ programming skills
- Good communication skills
- Hands-on experience with CGAL is a plus
- Experience with parallel algorithms (CPU, GPU) is a plus
What you can expect from us
Work on tasks that have an impact and projects that leave space for creativity
A team of people with high expertise and experience in geometric computing
- A SME close to academia. We have a joint PhD student and postdoc with Inria, mentor multiple students each year with GSoC, have a booth at ACM SIGGRAPH and InterGEO, and sponsor the SGP Software Award.
- A multicultural environment
- Living on the French Riviera, as we are based in Sophia-Antipolis, close to Nice, France
