Post-doctoral research positions in Computer Graphics & Geometric Modeling

This is an announcement for a 18 months postdoctoral position in LIRIS laboratory, CNRS, Lyon, France.

Missions

The goal of this project is to work on a method for reconstructing a complete and topologically correct volume model from a point cloud. A solid model is necessary to describe the different elements of the BIM (walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, etc.), and topological correction is essential to correctly describe the relationships between these elements. We will rely for this on the mathematical model of combinatorial maps allowing to describe volumetric subdivisions of space, and having many construction operations, modifications and computation of topological properties.

Activities

Main tasks :

- propose a method for reconstructing a BIM solid model from a point cloud

- develop a software prototype implementing the method

- carry out reconstruction tests from real data

Secondary tasks:

- correct/improve the point cloud to improve the reconstruction

- define an automatic semantization method for the point cloud or the reconstructed model, possibly using an AI method

Skills

- C++ programming

- CGAL library

Work Context

The Image Computing and Information Systems Laboratory (LIRIS) is a joint research unit (UMR 5205) of CNRS, INSA Lyon, University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, University Lumière Lyon 2 and Ecole Centrale de Lyon. It has 330 members.

This position will be part of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes IASBIM region project, led by the company BIMDATA.IO (https://bimdata.io/), in collaboration with the company OSLANDIA (https://oslandia.com/ ) and the LIRIS laboratory (https://liris.cnrs.fr/).
