Recrutement de postdoc ou ingénieur de recherche (IMT Atlantique Brest)

POSTDOC / RESEARCH SCIENTIST

Location: Brest, France

Department: Computer Science

Minimum level of education: Master degree

Project title: Human Resilience Modelling

Area: human factors, performance modelling, joint-cognitive systems engineering

Location: IMT Atlantique, Brest, France (https://www.imt-atlantique.fr/en)

Start date: February 1, 2022 or ASAP

Contract period: 12 months, renewable

Salary: starting at 2200€/month according to experience and skills

Context

Industry 4.0 is characterized by smart automation and connectivity, flexible and adaptive processes, as well as sustainable manufacturing practices. System models that take a holistic view of this sociotechnical system includes the human “components”. This means that models of humans must be produced and interfaced with the functional and design models. The requirement to include human performance models in the system models for Industry 4.0 is even more critical and urgent as industries seek to introduce more digitalization and automation into their manufacturing processes. Displaced workers need to be retrained, or their skills need to be retooled, to meet the challenges of a highly automated and AI-enabled work environment. Being able to model and predict the impact of human factors on system resilience is an important goal for the design of future factories and manufacturing processes.

The objectives of this project are to select/develop human performance models to be integrated into an industrial system modeling and simulation toolbox, and to develop a prototype simulation to demonstrate the integrated human performance model in use cases.

Key responsibilities

With the guidance of the project leader, you will have the following responsibilities:

• Evaluate common human task modelling frameworks to select one or a combination of models to be integrated into an industrial system modelling and simulation toolbox

• Define specific scenarios based on a use case provided by industry partners for which human behaviour will be modelled in normal and abnormal circumstances

• Develop specifications of human behaviour modelling methods and data needs for selected models

• Develop a prototype simulation to demonstrate the integrated human performance model in one or two scenarios

You will be expected to work closely with the PIs, and industry TPOC. Travel for data collection at industrial partner’s work site may be required.

Skills and qualification

Education level: Master’s or PhD degree in human factors, industrial engineering, system engineering, computer science (human-computer interaction), psychology, or equivalent

Training/Experience (desired): Laboratory and field research techniques, working with human subjects, data analytics, human performance modelling, joint-cognitive system engineering.

Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English is required.

Terms and conditions

This is a research position based in Brest, France.

As a team member of the Human Resilience Modelling project, you will join the IMT Atlantique Department of Computer Science (https://www.imt-atlantique.fr/fr/l-ecole/departements-d-enseignement-recherche/informatique) at IMT Atlantique and the P4S Team (https://labsticc.fr/fr/equipes/p4s) and INUIT Team (https://labsticc.fr/en/teams/inuit) of the research lab of Lab-STICC (https://labsticc.fr/en).

IMT is a group of 12 partner institutions, known as Grands Ecoles (engineering schools). Its strength is founded on a shared vision to: train graduates for businesses, develop the economy in France and her territories, contribute to innovation and entrepreneurship. IMT is deeply involved in research and development for Industry of Future.

The initial contract will be for a period of one year, renewable pending availability of funding.
